Purple Asparagus strives to teach children across the Chicagoland area to enjoy food that’s healthy for the planet and for their bodies, incorporating fruits, vegetables and whole grains for a healthy lifestyle – and bringing whole families together back around the table. GTA Principal Amy Schiffman facilitated a board retreat for Purple Asparagus in April of 2014. Board members explored the role of the board, developed individualized action plans and discussed board recruitment practices. The group also identified lay versus professional responsibilities. Follow up included the development of committee charges, role descriptions, annual goals and the development of committee work plans.
