This well established nonprofit represents a highly reputable academic institution in Israel. The organization has served as a key mechanism of financial support and a link between American and Israeli scholars, government officials and community leaders for almost 60 years. As such, the organization hosts a variety of lectures, seminars, conferences, and other educational and cultural events to encourage increased dialogue between the people of the United States and Israel. Headquartered in New York City, this organization raises more than $30 million each year via its regional offices and is looking to expand its presence in the Midwest.
The Position
The Midwest Director will serve as the campaign director for the Chicago area region. Reporting to the President & CEO, this senior development executive will have responsibility for identifying, cultivating and soliciting major gifts. S/he will work with donors and prospects to identify and understand their interests, build relationships and develop opportunities for individuals to support the mission and work of the organization. S/he will manage a $1.4+ million major gifts portfolio of outright and deferred gifts, overseeing and coordinating donor engagement and prospecting events each year.
Responsibilities
Development, Outreach and Relationship Building: Develop an individual major gifts strategy as well as donor cultivation/recognition plans. Work with lay partners to solicit prospects and deepen relationships with donors.
Volunteer Management: Inspire, train and motivate volunteers to be effective in the identification and solicitation of major donors. Manage relationships with donors, national board members, volunteer leadership and colleagues.
Operations: Expand regional operations and oversee major events and smaller donor engagement/cultivation opportunities within the region.
Communications: Develop and manage vehicles for frequent interaction with donors, prospects and leadership through direct and indirect communications such as email, newsletters, social media, webinars, phone calls, other correspondence and personal visits.
Qualifications
- Proven track record of fundraising success with specific experience in campaign planning and cultivation, stewardship and solicitation of individual donors
- Experience overseeing cultivation events with high end philanthropists and major donors
- Communication experience, specifically the development and implementation of a communications plan

- Campaign planning and major gift solicitation

- Familiarity with Israeli society, culture, life and politics
