Overview
The Director of Marketing and Communications plays an important role in establishing the vision and voice of Bernard Zell Anshe Emet Day School (BZAEDS) through all materials and publications. This position reports to the Chief Advancement Officer and is responsible for developing and implementing the school’s full range of marketing and communications efforts critical to generating new enrollment, maximizing student retention and ensuring strong recognition for BZAEDS. This position demands a range of skills including strong written communications, critical thinking, website, social media, production management and marketing/public relations. The ideal candidate is a creative, strategic and analytic thinker who is highly self- motivated and can work as part of a team.

BZAEDS is an independent, progressive Jewish day school serving 540 students in nursery through eighth grade. The school combines the best of Jewish learning and traditions with innovative educational practices in a rigorous and nurturing learning environment. At BZAEDS, dedicated educators partner with Jewish families to fulfill the goal of raising children to be their best selves and good citizens of their communities.

Key Responsibilities 
Strategy: Design and implement a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy that incorporates all audiences and stakeholders, advancing the school’s profile. Develop and lead all marketing efforts, including but not limited to brand management, messaging, collateral production and outreach plans to advance the school’s strategic and operating objectives. Establish and execute an advertising plan and policies for recruitment including social networking tools and strategies to expand outreach. Manage and analyze all market research initiatives. Oversee the Institutional Advancement Committee of the Board of Trustees.
Collateral Development and Management: Produce and manage the publication of all school communications including newsletters, brochures, donor reports, digital communications, advertisements, letters, and other promotional materials. Manage all creative partners and vendors as pertaining to marketing and communications. Maximize use of the school’s website to enhance communication, promote community, educate donors, attract new students and raise the public profile of the school.

Qualifications

  • A bachelors degree and 5+ years work experience in communications
  • Exemplary writing skills and strong design knowledge
  • Experience developing materials for video, web, print, social media, and speaking engagements
  • Project management expertise

  • Strategic, organized, creative thinking and communication
  • Ability to establish goals, prioritize, multiple requests and demonstrate results
  • Effective, high-energy, can-do team player
  • Knowledge and experience working in the Jewish community as well as knowledge of Hebrew is a plus
