Overview
The Development Manager works with the lay leaders and professional staff in fulfilling Camp Ramah in Wisconsin’ s and Ramah Day Camp’ s mission and achieving the development goals. The ideal candidate will have extensive development experience and strong relationship building and communication skills. Jewish communal knowledge especially within the summer camp world, cultivation of donors and an ability to manage multiple constituencies are also critical characteristics of a successful Development Manager candidate.

Camp Ramah in Wisconsin
Camp Ramah in Wisconsin is 150 acres of magical space, tucked away in the heart of Wisconsin’s Northwoods. In this space, campers entering grades 4-11 from around the Midwest and Israel join together for an overnight camp experience each summer to create an exceptional Jewish community. Ramah is a second home where campers have fun, learn new skills, gain independence and build lifelong friendships.

Ramah Day Camp 
Ramah Day Camp, located in Wheeling, Illinois, offers children entering grades K-6 a summer filled with joy and wonder. The vibrant camp atmosphere and myriad activities inspire children to discover the adventures that await them every day.

Both Camp Ramah in Wisconsin and Ramah Day Camp provide opportunities for growth and joy in the context of meaningful Jewish experiences.

Responsibilities 
Implement Segmented Strategies as part of the Established Development Plan: Under the direction of the Director of Institutional Advancement and the CEO, collaborate on fundraising efforts toward a current annual campaign of $1.5 million with an eye towards 100% growth in the coming years. Strengthen existing programs and develop new strategies to engage alumni, parents, grandparents, etc. including event planning.
Work with Lay Leaders on Solicitation Strategies and Follow Up: Coordinate the volunteer development committee in its annual solicitation of donors. Development and implementation of long-term growth plan.
Conduct Prospect Research and Track Giving: Using tools such as the Donor’s Forum and Raiser’s Edge, conduct prospect research for both foundations and individuals. Function within Raiser’s Edge to analyze giving and strategize solicitations.
Attend Organization Functions Where Donors are Present: Work in partnership with the development team to support development initiatives. Cultivate and steward key donors at all organization functions.

Qualifications 

  • 5+ years of development experience
  • Proven track record of fundraising success
  • Basic understanding of Jewish culture and traditions
